Following my residency and fellowship in Omaha, Nebraska, my wife and I were thrilled to return to South Central Texas. I had many fond memories of the four years I attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), and was excited to move back and start practicing in a fast growing, affordable large city with a well regarded medical community, cultural history and lots of great things to do (and eat).
After practicing for a time in San Marcos, I decided to open my own Pain Management practice almost three years ago. So, I had to consider my options and decide where in the greater San Antonio / New Braunfels area I wanted to open my office. My wife and I live in New Braunfels, so that was definitely on the list, but San Antonio is a significantly larger market with lots of patients that need Pain Management care. Bulverde was halfway in between New Braunfels and San Antonio and is experiencing significant growth.
After much consideration, I ultimately decided that San Antonio, specifically the Northside of San Antonio would be the best fit for a new Pain Management Practice. San Antonio, aka the Alamo City and Military City, USA, is the 7th largest city in the United States, with a growing population of almost 1.5 million people! It offers an attractive combination of a reasonable cost of living, relatively mild weather (with the exception of the height of the summer obviously), a rich cultural and historical background, and a top-tier food scene.
After viewing multiple potential office spaces, our current space in Stone Oak, next to North Central Baptist Hospital emerged as the top choice. And we certainly made the right choice – Stone Oak has been a wonderful area for us to do business in for the past two years. We have enjoyed getting to know the local restaurants, attractions, and physician partners in the Stone Oak area and beyond. So, we wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of our personal favorites. Enjoy!
